Scary. But was the cyclist wearing high-viz clothes? “@theJeremyVine: No idea how the cyclist survived this http://m.huffpost.com/uk/entry/5616157?1406190491 …”

Before you all get your Lycra shorts in a twist, I'm NOT defending the driver,Just pointing out that cyclists can do more to help themselves

@JuliaHB1 @GMcycling you r excusing driver minimising their bad driving and blaming the victim in it all

@muddyryder @GMcycling no I am not excusing bad driving. I'm saying that being in the right doesn't count for much when you're in hospital

If the cyclist was in high-viz with lights on, then unforgivable of driver. If not, hard to spot at high speed in murky rain @theJeremyVine

.@GreenJennyJones @theJeremyVine I agree! The driver is undoubtedly at fault but it's still wise for cyclists to wear high-viz for safety.

@JuliaHB1 @Iwin1961 @theJeremyVine @michaelrundle what do hi viz clothes have to do with this? Not mandatory. Driver has duty of care.

@JuliaHB1 @theJeremyVine 22mph on skinny tyres, block brakes! A bitpre caution required. Although there isn't a speed limit for cycled.
