Why do schools object to Ofsted spot checks? Why would any school doing a good job for pupils need days or hours of notice to show that?

@JuliaHB1 As a teacher, I'd rather they turned up at short notice, with more realistic expectations & focused on the kids not the paperwork.

@JuliaHB1 it's a shame they can't deploy the equivalent of the mystery shopper.

@JuliaHB1 I agree. Planned inspections odd. Like a teenager having a house party and being told when a parent is coming home...

@StephenParry80 @JuliaHB1 NHS inspections are even more ludicrous - the notification period is sometimes several weeks.

@SimonDale1965 @JuliaHB1 The worst hospital/school/institution in the world could make themselves appear perfect with notice periods.

@JuliaHB1 worth pointing out that FCA regulated (Finance) companies can be spot checked at any time. Why different rules for public sector?

@JuliaHB1 ONLY reason may be the number of staff that would need to work with inspectors on the day who may have other tasks assigned.
