@BenTerrion no, just that most people get rich by working damn hard and taking risks, not by cheating "the poor" out of their money.

@BenTerrion Yes, they do. But the sad reality is that there are lots of people able to do their jobs, hence low pay rates. Supply & demand.

@lionz69482 No. The rich don't "deserve" money. Anyone who works hard and, for eg, starts own business, and makes money deserves that money. -
@JuliaHB1@pinkandtweed@lionz69482 I believe in hard work driving for success, but if you succeed in society you pay more to society. -
@CoryMacRae@pinkandtweed@lionz69482 which higher earners already do. -
@JuliaHB1@CoryMacRae@pinkandtweed@lionz69482 paid more income tax in both relative and absolute terms than you? -
@lsunv@JuliaHB1@pinkandtweed@lionz69482 Yet clearly those earning high numbers have access to avoidance procedures the rest of us don't. -
@CoryMacRae@lsunv@JuliaHB1@lionz69482 if you look at who pays what tax, without the rich we'd not have much tax in the pot. -
@pinkandtweed@lsunv@JuliaHB1@lionz69482 The issues are the loopholes that allow super rich to pay nothing. Non doms that Tories love! - 2 more replies

@JuliaHB1 no - based on fact that top earners can afford it, and depend on lower earners to make that cash. -
@diervilla on the contrary, the top earners are the ones who create the businesses that provide those jobs in the first place. -
@JuliaHB1@diervilla Entrepreneurs rely on an educated & healthy workforce, good transport & energy infrastructure, law and order etc etc

@JuliaHB1 thought it was based on idea that if you have more, you can afford to give more, perhaps to help those who have less. Just an idea -
@amyuncorked but there has to be a limit to the "more". I think 50% tax plus NICS is too much "more". -
@JuliaHB1 certainly agree it's harder to find % or cut-off point fair to everyone
