Indeed, Julia. The key word being “could”. But will they? Zero commitment from Johnson so far to exempt NHS staff from an immigration income threshold. Why not? Presumably endemic NHS understaffing just isn’t his priority.

This is the same inane Doctor who was envisaging airlifts to get medicines here yesterday ? At it again today spouting nonsense again just to scare people .
-
We will all see shortly - in the meantime read the government’s own prep paper for no deal - now that is scary.

She probably did read that bit but omitted it from her tweet because it doesn't suit her narrative.

She was also too angry to notice this is a recommendation from a think tank, not a government proposal.
-
Tom - I think you just summed up most remainers in that tweet.

Rachel isn't a proper Dr. She tweets for a Remain group and spreads misinformation about the NHS for political points.
-
What’s your definition of ‘proper doctor’? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rachel_Clarke …
-
Read your own article, she’s not practiced medicine since 2015. Either she’s crap or she’s in it for the money considering there’s an NHS shortage of doctors.
-
She’s signed up to a twitter group related to Momentum and Remain. Loads of these idiots on here. Designed to spread propaganda.
-
She’s no more qualified than an ATOS medical examiner. Yet these numpties hang on her every word.
-
The echo chamber of Remain desperately seeking opinions that they agree with.

Don't spoil her ill-informed rant with facts Julia. Come on, play fair!!

-
Don’t spoil your quipy piths with acknowledging qualifiers that don’t mean shit in the morning.....”could”.....Rachel’s point stands until it’s “will”....
-
The point doesn't stand at all. It is quite clear that the NHS would be exempted. Otherwise they would lose around 40k staff if I remember the no's correctly. You might like to think so but the Govt aren't always stupid!
-
Well... They were stupid enough to dump the bursary paid to student nurses. Result? Plummeting applications. Impact? Double figure vacancy rates for RN's. Don't get old, sick or vote Tory. Or ignore the difference between 'could' & 'will'. Could means could!
-
I'm not ignoring the difference. Boris has said they will guarantee EU citizens rights for those currently in the UK. So it would only affect future recruitment. But means more NHS jobs available to UK Citizens.https://news.sky.com/story/boris-johnson-to-enshrine-eu-citizens-rights-in-preparation-for-no-deal-11770128 …
-
NHS jobs have ALWAYS been available to British citizens. The sad truth is not enough British citizens either want them or have the necessary skills or qualifications required to do such jobs!
-
So maybe the NHS and Govt need to look at why British Citizens don't want them?
-
It's simple, the working conditions are poor and we don't get paid enough considering we are all graduates who do an extremely stressful job
