Why you going after fennel when courgettes exist and continue to polute our plates and veg boxes with bland inevitability? If courgettes were anymore centrist they'd form their own breakaway independent group in Parliament.

Courgettes that are cut into tiny pieces, deep fried in batter and called “zucchini”, are delicious. Otherwise they taste of courgette and are disgusting.

The essential trick to remember is that a courgette is an ingredient, not a food, but that a lot of British recipes forget this.
