Kids should be in school, not playing their parents’ student political games. Where else are they going to get their daily apocalyptic indoctrination about how human beings are bad and are killing the planet?https://twitter.com/strikeclimate/status/1159628610434666496 …

I could probably list a few scientific journals if would help? Starting with Nature. Or perhaps a variety of other science-y organisations like NASA and the Met Office? (Don't even think about using arXiv papers as equivalent to full peer review. Been there, done that).

Human beings "being bad and killing the planet" tends to be how those on either extreme (eco warrior or denialist/lobbyist/outrider) frame the debate to rile up their supporters. The science is clear however. We need to mitigate. That won't happen if we all go ostrich-mode.

I presume that education would be along the lines of ditching all forms of science in favour of teaching how to sit properly in a circle and the appropriate volume at which to chant "believe"?

Should be an even bigger fine as this is banging their parents’ political drum. Doesn’t matter how worthy the cause they should be in school at their age - parents of kids on genuine educational holidays still get fined.

If they must do it why not in school holidays otherwise parents should be fined and schools fined for allowing it.

It is debatable science that has been hijacked by the left to justify extreme changes in social policy. It should not be taught to kids as fact.

There is overwhelming consensus amongst scientists about this. I’m not sure how it has become an issue of ‘left’ or ‘right’ when other scientific issues do not.

Because the left hijack it for their purposes. E.g. “green industrial revolution” means a justification for state control of the energy supply, creation of huge numbers of state jobs, and other leftist initiatives. Obscures the true debate.
