Thinking this the other day. Remainers moan old people voted brexit but anyone born before 1975 either experienced or were children of people experience war and rationing so aren't afraid of some hardship. I was born within 20 years of end of war-fruit and nuts in Xmas stocking.

Mum was a Land Army Girl, Dad an American paratrooper. They married in ‘45, I was born in ‘49. Dad fought from Omaha Beach to liberating concentration camps. My life was shaped by their experience.

Not quite, but nearly. Come On Eileen was no.1 in August 1982 so exactly 37 years ago. WW2 ended on 8 May 1945 so 37 years and 3 months before Come On Eileen made no.1..... so nearly
