This is extraordinary. @guyverhofstadt doesn’t even try to hide that fact that EU federalism will be forced on nation states whether they - or voters - like it or not.https://twitter.com/LeftBrexit/status/1156650447547043840 …

It's a long list Julia . The DUP do not represent majority opinion in NI . They have failed to form a power sharing executive denying NI people democratic representation.DUP are supporting Johnson on No Deal Brexit notwithstanding HMG's obligations under Belfast Peace Agreement
-
The DUP represent a large portion of people in NI the only reason the NI assembly is not working is Sinn Fein
-
Whatever happened with the RSI cash for ash scandal? Hmm?

Your PM´s latest thing is he wants to impose "Direct Rule" over Northern Ireland, supposedly to suppress any border issues. It painfully reminds you on the 60´s and 70´s and military guard posts on every second corner
-
Perhaps it’s time for Ireland (north & south) to have a referendum on unification...

-
It wouldn´t surprise me if they did. The Northern Irish voted not to leave the EU but the outcome from the bigger populations in England is being forced upon them (through fedalism Julia)
-
You could say the same about the Scots. However, both still receive masses of funding from England. Would they get the same via the EU., if they left the UK but remained inside the EU? Who knows....

-
In many ways, their situation is similar, yes - apart from the border problem in Ireland
-
The infamous “tricky border” dilemma. It feels like an ever decreasing circle.... I’m guessing both will happen eventually. But if we can’t even unpick ties with the EU, how the heck will it be done internally? Stuff of nightmares & years of talks. It’s deja vu already

They are having Brexit forced on them against their wishes.
-
No, it was a national referendum. We voted as a nation to leave. Why is it only Remoaners that don't understand this!?
-
Why is it that when convenient, each country of the UK is a separate entity but when it comes to the 2016 referendum, everything was one Nation? You know as well as I do the only part of the UK voting to leave were parts of England and Wales. Scots voted to stay by a 63% margin
-
Constitutional issues are voted at national level. Devolved issues are dealt with by our devolved institutions. It's not that difficult to understand.
-
How is that devolved institution doing these days?
-
Not very well because a single party chose to collapse it and refuse to enter into an Executive with the other parties who all are keen to get back to work without preconditions.

The Scottish people don't want to leave the EU. You're not suggesting that you're forcing anything on them by majority rule are you, because I would be shocked!
-
You're so wrong. Many of the Scottish independence voters want to be out of the EU. SNP supporters are different.
-
That might be so. I'm just making the point that the UK is a union where members of that union are subject to majority rule too. Julia is suggesting that the system of majority rule will be forced on member states, which is not what he is saying.
-
The UK voted as one entity. Poland, Hungary and others do not want EU immigration forced upon them.
-
You're missing my point I think. If you'd look at the EU as one entity (never mind Brexit, different discussion) one could argue that majority rule is a more efficient way of governing (just like Scotland doesn't have a veto in the union that is the UK).
-
I get the feeling our esteemed friend here is missing your point deliberately
-
I'm thinking you're a communist agitator?
