I agree wholeheartedly with this from @jeremycorbyn. And the same goes for all political parties. The more ££££ you give a political party, the more your vote counts. That’s not democracy.https://twitter.com/jeremycorbyn/status/1155562483471355904 …

A government should be indebted to the people, not big donors or vested interests. As long as the Tories rely on the wealthy, they will never take the action needed to stand up to tax cheats or greedy polluters. Let’s end the scandal of big money running our politics. pic.twitter.com/iWkTseFF4B

I agree with you. BTW Brexit party would've been illegal in Germany, law requires all party executives and party leader to be democratically elected, the party to have members and all donations to be public. 1: We need to remember the enormous ratio of PayPal traffic to other traffic on the website: 40% going from the site to PayPal and 45% coming back from PayPal. Unheard of ratios. But these are website transactions and would be recorded in the server Logs... pic.twitter.com/baDWPBzeJy

In 2017 #Labour received £55.8m from members, donations & the unions (Guardian). £10m more than the #Conservatives. Unite was the largest Union donor. Until we change the system there will always problems. Am I correct in thinking that only #Parliament can change this? #catch22

I, as a union member, get to vote - like when there’s been leadership contests. It’s not the head of my union that decides for me where my vote goes.

I assure you that unite union give a bigger single donation to labour than any individual tory donor. Is there really any difference between the two. Instead of a donor dictating policy we have a handful of people at the top of a union dictating policy.

No, because unions are people not businesses - i.e. just like political parties they represent ordinary people not companies or wealthy individuals. With @UKLabour it’s also worth remembering it was founded by the unions.
