Only Britain could make Gary Lineker a Fellow of Oxford University.

No. Only Oxford could make Gary Lineker a fellow of an Oxford college. Oxford is definitely not Britain

populist: "a person, especially a politician, who strives to appeal to ordinary people who feel that their concerns are disregarded by established elite groups" (aka "democrat")
-
So, in essence, all those against populism, believe that the will of "established elite groups" should take precedence over the concerns of ordinary people?
-
yes, because the definition of populism means that logically your statement/assertion is true. Whether or not every populist policy is a good one to have is another question. The media/left have hijacked the meaning of populism to mean "intrinsically bad", which is incorrect.
-
Populism basically means to listen to a large number of people who aren't currently being listened-to. It's not necessarily a bad thing, and it's the basis of democracy/freedom.
-
It's also what can lead to fascism, but conversely a lack of populism is what can lead to communism/dictatorship and the deaths of millions. Swings and roundabouts.
-
At the end of the day it's all about trying to get a reasonable balance; try to avoid fascism, but also try to listen to people.

Saw his performance in Parliament earlier. Funny with the pompous sloganeers, respectful to serious question, but most of all, fun. Don't know if he'll deliver Brexit, but anything will be an improvement on May. I'm warming to him, so far.
-
I hate the Trump comparisons but in a similar way he’s bringing a playful entertainment value back. Rees Mogg and Boris will make Parliament far more a must watch.
-
Makes you realise just how awful May has been; only made to look competent by a dull opposition. There are now some big beasts prowling Parliament. But will it be enough to complete Brexit and win a majority?

Funny I don't remember nearly as many meltdowns when May was made PM. Now what could the difference be...?

She was on their team...

I think you'll find its "UK meltdown." For a proud Brit you seem to enjoy your country been a laughing stock on the world stage.
-
I'm a very proud Brit and that is why I no longer want to be ruled by the corrupt eu, headed by drunks and criminals. The corrupt eu is the laughing stock because it is fighting for its life. The UK is preparing to dance on while the corrupt eu crumbles into dust and blows away.
