And that’s while we’re in the EU.

Nice Airport. Supposedly an international airport in a major first world country. Hundreds of passengers for a dozen flights, some leaving in minutes. Four electronic passport machines. None working. Three customs officers. THREE. And they are working at a very... French... pace.

Every time I drive through Spain into France and vice versa it's always the French that make it difficult

-
Not as difficult as it will be for you if you get Brexit though. You ain't seen nothin yet!
-
Oh no, I'll have to show somebody my passport the end is nigh....
-
Oh and I nearly forgot, ensure you have the correct paperwork for any goods you may be carrying with you before being allowed on a ferry to cross the channel.
-
I'm sure you will have receipts and safety certificates for anything you take with you though.

My flight into Bordeaux was fine...very friendly French Police. Love the country...not much traffic on the road, and very quiet.

Atlanta. Even transitting, you have to "enter" the US (ESTA etc required) Fortunately, my grandaughter was then a babe in arms, so we were moved to the front of the immensely long queue, but I think the officials hadn't bargained for her family being 7 adults

I flew into Charles De Gaulle recently. They seemed more interested in how big my Ipad was rather than my passport (for context: my phone battery had died by the stage I got to passport control and had to rely on my iPad for backup). Passport control took ages as 'EU citizen'.

I regularly fly to Paris CdG and never experienced similar incidents. Busy, yes but always quick and efficient. Had worse in Istanbu or LTN due to expansion work. The winner is Dusseldorf even for transit.

Flew into Palma in May, best experience I have had passing any control. Plenty of modern technology and welcoming staff.

UK passport control at any airport north of the Watford gap. Normally 40/50 minutes to get through, at any time of the day, at any day of the week.
-
Try Newcastle airport
