I have a truly fabulous dressing table at home with an entire drawer of lipsticks so prefer to paint myself there, but have no problem with others performing the feat next to me on the train. Anything involving spraying, strong smells or the removal of unwanted features not cool.

I sat on a train once and the woman opposite did the whole make up thing. I didn't know the right thing to do to watch or not?

v much disagree with nail painting as it does indeed smell! But mascara etc are no different to my current activities on the train journey I’m taking, which involve writing in a notebook.
