Ooh, the knives are out for Alan Duncan after he blamed Boris Johnson for Sir Kim Darroch’s resignation. Read all the subtweets too. Ouch.https://twitter.com/matthew_elliott/status/1149015054743998469 …

Do you mean Alan ‘living on rations’ 5 grand claim for grass cutting, leant his elderly next door neighbour money to buy their ‘right to buy’ council house, then bought it off them 3yrs later, then converted both into one large house, Duncan ?

Only two people to blame. Darroch for writing them in the first place, and whoever leaked the email 🤷🏼‍♂️

Assuming you’re talking about who leaked it, absolutely. Still wouldn’t have been anything to leak though if he hadn’t been more “diplomatic” in the first place.

It's actually Hunt's fault if anything as it came from his office.

Frankly there is no more odious or condescending politician than Alan. How anyone stands to be in the same room is a mystery. Under May he’d pop up as a last resort, when the gov was desperate for someone to stay on message.

Darroch had to go, the fact that the POTUS is Trump or that Boris said ANYTHING is irrelevant, Darroch's views being leaked led to his demise, and no amount of loyalty by the PM or anyone else would have saved him, anything else is political opportunism.

Not standing up for your diplomats or civil service is despicable cowardice. Fuck Boris. Fuck him in the eye.

Darroch did what any ambassador would do, reporting back to HQ their observations, but if those observations are leaked, then their position becomes untenable, he had to go, no question about it. Boris is an irrelevance in the matter.

Except he wasn’t because if he had been Boris would have followed the party line and shown his support for the civil service he is about to control.

If Boris had said "I fully support him and think he should keep his job" he would still have gone, the Americans wouldn't have been able to trust him, and the government and civil service knew that.

A bit of a slippery character is Mr Duncan!!!!! Wouldn’t be surprised if he leaked the memo’s. I have him in the same category has Mr Williamson. We used to put these people in the tower and then throw the key away

Kim Darroch had to go through no fault of his own . but lets put it in perspective , will he be claiming job seekers no , universal credit no , will he get a big fat pension yes . He had to go because trump would not work with him . blame the leaker .
