This is weird. When I applied to join the Labour Party in 2016 to vote for Anyone But Corbyn, they told me I couldn’t vote as I didn’t “share the aims & values of the party”. Not sure why we should all get a say in the Tory leadership when we don’t all get a say in the Labour onehttps://twitter.com/UKLabour/status/1144187418477826048 …

They state that the general public is not involved in selecting the next PM. This is a fact.
-
The general public is not, and never has been, involved in selecting a PM.
-
Yes it is.

We don't elect Prime Ministers, they are chosen by MPs. The Conservative party will choose a new leader. That new leader will try to form a new Gov..
-
… and that new Government needs to maintain the confidence of the House of Commons. That's why there may be a General Election straight after the appointment of a new Conservative leader.
-
It's genuinely shocking how many people do not understand how the electoral system works in this country. When I have explained to people I know they don't vote for the PM, they are voting for their local representative in a general election, so many are surprised!

According to YouGov.... Only 19% of these “Conservative Party Members” Votes Conservative in the European Elections. 53% voted for the Brexit Party. They don’t appear to be very loyal “Conservatives” either. Decision on new PM made by Brexit Party voters???
