Surely if one starts from truly disadvantageous origins the face one makes it to the top is all the more impressive and indicates very positive qualities about the individual concerned such as tenacity, determination and endeavour?

Opinion isn't fact - and how do you know if those 'advantaged' people hadn't struggled - separated from parents and sent to boarding schools, maybe bullied, maybe abused...

Most journos love character / career arcs ‘cuz of the story angle they can spin. But ask anyone if they’d trust their life-saving surgery to the best but family-privileged doc vs. one who came from nowhere & moved mountains to become a fairly decent one, & the former always wins.
