“It isn’t ‘extremist’ to call the niqab oppressive and ridiculous, as Boris Johnson did. The real extremists are those people who want to protect Islam from public debate and ridicule. That is genuinely backward and intolerant”, says Brendan O’Neillhttps://www.spiked-online.com/2019/06/14/boris-was-right-about-the-niqab-its-oppressive-and-ridiculous/ …

Once again, most western islamic women don’t even wear the burqa so what’s your point?
-
The point is that no one should be wearing them.
-
Women from the Haredi sect, a group of ultra Orthodox Jews also sport the burqa. Do you reserve condemnation for them also?
-
I don't care if they are Japanese ninjas... the reason for a face covering is irrelevant. It's the face covering itself that is offensive.
-
You may find the garment oppressive and antithetical to female liberation but some Muslim women wear it of their own volition and feel it affords them a sense of honor/group identity and safeguards them from objectification. Personally speaking, I’d rather the state >>

doesn't matter why people wear what they do. If their attire is very different from the British norm (men or women), it invites comment and maybe ridicule. Jeans are very common dress. Anyone who doesn't want to conform with normal dress rules should be prepared for this.
