Hmmmm. Actually MOST people have never and don’t ever do drugs of any kind, and certainly not class A drugs. Most of us know how to have a good time without snorting white powder up our noses. (In a later tweet I will make a strong case for imbibing Sancerre though.)https://twitter.com/tomhfh/status/1137374926938284034 …

turns out most politicians are basically normal people who have all dabbled in less than legal substances. the real question is who’s the dweeby leadership candidate who has never tried anything fun going to be?

Not true- most data I’ve seen show a clear majority of the public have smoked weed at some point yet it’s still under prohibition - driving gang crime and livelihood devastation for literally no reason.

No, that’s not true. 70% of people have NEVER used illegal drugs, including cannabis. Only 9% of people have used illegal drugs in the past year - and most do so very occasionally. These stats are consistent across a whole range of surveys. Drugs use is NOT normal.

It is overwhelmingly normal to have tried an illegal drug at some point in your life. usually cannabis. your 70% figure is nonsense.

Alcohol is a lot more harmful than many, many banned substances. Do you think our Friday night town centres would be less welcoming if everyone was stoned instead? Plenty hard working people like to get bendy. Ignorance is not strength here.

Also, erm, Music? Art? Many of these treasures that we enjoy on a daily basis would not have been created were it not for the influence of one drug or another. Egyptian Kings and Queens were buried with mountains of drugs to keep them busy in death. Wine IS drugs Julia.

It's legal though and doesnt carry a prison sentence for possession . Buying it encourages gang warfare across county lines and all the crime associated with it . Including knife crime.
