What? Only when it is proven that the pay gap between the genders is a thing of the past. All forms of discrimination should be taken seriously & measures put in place to erradicate them.

I think you will find the pay gap is strongly linked to the hours worked and overtime worked gaps.

Without looking at the base data I couldn't comment. What is clear to me is that people doing the same job to the same standard should all receive the same remuneration.

I mean A. Lots of things are illegal but people still do them. But more importantly, we need to look at why women typically have lower paying jobs in general than men. That's what the gap is about, not necessarily discrimination (although that could of course play a part).

Gender wage gap %s are calculated from the *average* earnings of 🚹 and 🚺 across the entire workforce. It doesn’t account for the pay scales in different professions and the hours worked, including OT. Primary School teachers are compared with Petroleum Engineers.

The overall one does, yes. But there are pay gap studies within individual sectors and professions.

Also the overall one should make us ask why more women are primary school teachers and more men are petroleum engineers. There could be a valid reason, but we should ask.

The reason is simply individuals making their own free career choices. Broadly speaking, many women have a preference for jobs involving more face to face interaction such as care work, nursing, retail. These are less lucrative that the specialised and often dangerous jobs that..

Yep and that's absolutely fine. I'm not calling for a 50:50 split in every job. But that's not always the reason, and it's not always the whole reason. My point is that we need to explore how much this accounts for and what the other factors are.
