Trump just confirmed it was up for grabs, Julia.

“Everything is on the table” does not mean it will be handed to Trump

But we will be though. The US will have all the leverage in talks, because predictably we would of had to lower our tariffs and checks to zero to mitigate the border issue and mitigate the fact we need as frictionless a trade as possible.
-
And they know this as well. That is why they are playing hard ball yet are so keen. But please... Do continue with your no deal rhetoric.
-
I just hope once we do lose the NHS - whether you agree at the time or not - that you realise the true value of sovereignty and how much we really have in the modern world. Then you will reflect and take responsibility.

Let them cry and have their headline - anyone with more than 7 braincells knows the NHS is going nowhere
-
I guess it a coincidence that Farage has stated he believes in an insurance based health care system and Trump wants US companies to provide health care in the UK?
-
And coincidence that the bloke who gave him 450,000 quid is an insurance man

It just allows US companies to provide services to the NHS on the same basis as companies like Virgin and Sirona already provide NHS services We still own it. It's still free at the point of delivery It's still our NHS It also allow US qualified medics to work here

Or to anybody else. It's about tendering for services and supplies, as we do now. Everything the NHS uses from its buildings (Labour's PFI) to its pharmaceuticals and equipment comes from the private sector.
-
John Majors PFI's. He introduced them.

True, in a small way and, as ever with contracts, the devil was in the detail.

What is wrong with letting the USA have an option to offer services to the NHS? if it’s better than we have or can get!no one will be selling it off to them Ive also been to US &eaten their chicken, why can’t we have an option for that as well, they will only import it if WE buy it
-
Have you SEEN the state of US healthcare?
-
Or the cost. Up to 30000 dollars for a birth, including the midwives. Simple fracture can be up to 6000 dollars.
-
That's because they have no NHS, we do. I envisage a situation where you have tax breaks for private insurance that covers smaller treatments like broken wrists etc, then that can take the weight off the NHS....and the NHS deals with major conditions.
-
Or we could properly fund the NHS that we have. Not let companies make a profit off sickness and injury.
-
Do you see how much we spend on the NHS already? That's one of the issues in this country, funding the thing. As to companies not making a profit, who goes to work for nothing? Profits drive better drugs and services.
-
We get better outcomes from the NHS than the ordinary person in the US from their insurance system. Many cannot afford healthcare. Yes, it costs but it is worth it. Privatisation has done such a great job with gas electric and water services...
-
Privatisation did a great job - rooted out shoddy public sector service, introduced competition that improves prices & service and reduced union power that just led to strikes plus allowed them to hold the country to ransom.
