I guess
@SteveBakerHW wouldn't get backing for the same reason then? The Conservative Party are finished, politics and the country have moved on. - 1 more reply

He was never a serious candidate he just wanted to raise his profile

And get a cabinet job? There are some too many of them anyway. I still suspect a stitch up regardless.

And get a cabinet job indeed

He voted for & believes in Mays surrender Treaty. Completely disagree!

Not when you vote for a deal with no end date not that sensible, but he does come across as a decent fellow.

Serious candidate or a positioner ! I'd suggest a serious candidate may have lasted longer

I liked him until he pretended May's treaty was Brexit. No chance after that.

Agreed, and he still should be an asset to any future PM.

That's why he won't fit the
#Conservative party PM profile. They are looking for neither sensible or normal.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

'Normal' and 'sensible' aren't usually prerequisites for that job.

But James Not So Cleverly has agreed to take no deal off the table. If you take no deal off the table at the start of the negotiation then you have already lost that negotiation

I would imagine one of the front runners has offered him a cabinet job in return for his support and withdrawal from the contest.

The immediate question is which candidate is he going to support? Much as I dislike Boris, I most fear a members’ ballot with the stark choice of Gove or Hunt. Members aren’t interested in the opinions of MPs, in whom they’ve lost faith, & want a wider choice than just two names.
