I live in the US and eat chicken about 4 times per week. Nobody here has a problem with chicken and can’t comprehend the fuss.https://twitter.com/Otto_English/status/1135525094602792961 …

The issue isn't Chlorine washing per se, its the fact they have to do it as the chickens are raised thigh deep in chicken faeces. Worse the chlorination doesn't get rid of the bacteria, just masks it in test results, hence the US have 10 x the food poisoning rates of the EU
-
It doesn't. Stop spreading lies
-
Data from the US government Tomas, they seem to disagree with you, 15% of the US population infected each year.https://www.cdc.gov/foodsafety/foodborne-germs.html …
-
You mean standard comparison of apples and oranges? That will always give you results you need:https://briefingsforbrexit.com/fact-checking-the-bbc-fact-checkers/ …
-
Infecting 15% of your population isn't an outstanding record on food health. Nor is quoting a biased organisation like briefings for brexit.
-
Read the article and links. Standard ad-hominem from lefties. Plus meaningless comparisons. How many people are infected in UK?
-
I did read it, its horseshit. If you understood statistics you would know that, but you don't.

It’s less about the chlorinated chicken and more about the standards of Agriculture and British values. If the US wants a deal then we shouldn’t be lowering standards
-
We lowered our standards as soon as most of the supermarkets started stocking halal without telling us. You ok with halal Andrew?
-
You think this is about chicken? They are rubbing their hands about the NHS. They want the same hopeless but profitable health system that the US has got
-
I never mentioned chicken.

-
In EU population 511m 97k cases of Salmonella and Denmark's poultry industry is Salmonella free Germany has shown a 3% rise in case that bucks the 50% reduction since 2012

It is good and of course it can always be accompanied by a nice pre washed salad, which in the UK is always washed in chlorinated water. The a nice drink of UK tap water which is of course chlorinated, then of course work it off with a swim, our pools are heavily chlorinated.

-
UK tap water is less chlorinated than in most countries, and I'm pretty sure you don't ingest swimming pool water http://dwi.defra.gov.uk/consumers/advice-leaflets/chlorine.pdf … "Level of chlorine in tap water is very low in England and Wales which contrasts...with other countries where much higher levels are common."
-
True. The chlorine wash for our prewashed salad is the same strenght as used in the USA on chicken. People do ingest some swimming pool water when swimming, it's also absorbed through skin. In general the US food standards system is considered to be one of the best in the world.
