I've had people tell me they're Brexiteers in a whispered voice. I've had people tell me they're Tories but don't like to make a big deal of it. Many are scared of punishment. I'm a single bloke so can ultimately go "fuck it" and say what I want. Not as easy if you have a family.https://twitter.com/NormalBloke6/status/1135492950266454016 …

Yeah, if people know you're "safe" they'll tell you. I was recently in a club on Canal Street and we ended up joining this other group. Turned out everyone was a Brexiteer - and most Tories. But frightened to say. Of course, the truth is: we're the majority and we're EVERYWHERE.

Well, I just announce it to everyone, at every opportunity. Most unBritish I know, but I just love the triggering that ensues. ‘Hi, my name is SAM, I’m a Tory. I love Fatcha and think Brexit is the best thing since the invention of sandwich spread. How do you do.’

Millenials were raised to think "Tory bad". It was like a spell that didn't break until recently. For most it still hasn't.
-
To be fair , I wish I was taught that at school . It's taken me 25 years of my adult life to realise what toryism is all about

Nope! In North West most towns are brexiteers and I bet most are across Labour heartlands. And we shout it from the roof tops with

flags high and proud.
No one tells us we cant love our nation and fly our flags.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

I'd whisper too if I was still supporting something which will make us all poorer compared with 2016 promises. It's akin to boasting about loving sanctions wielded on the poorest claiming benefits.

It shud be a dirty thing to admit to really. To knowingly take the country a few decades as a result of lies and bigotry, yes it shud b something to be ashamed to admit in public...!

My vet, in a group of four, was the only one to vote Leave. She tells them she voted Remain.

Because the left's instincts are to go on the attack with personal insults and accuse you of being a racist thicko.

The reason Brexiteers whisper is a bit like the reason racists whisper stuff, Julia. They don't want to broadcast their narrow view/xenophobia to the world. Although that stuff is becoming more common since the referendum.https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/may/20/racism-on-the-rise-since-brexit-vote-nationwide-study-reveals …
