I absolutely defend the right of free speech that allows people to make jokes that other people may find offensive, sexist, racist etc. They may not even be funny jokes. But I’m really struggling with the chimp photo. It’s not clever or subtle, it’s just blatant 1970s racism.https://twitter.com/JuliaHB1/status/1126433278704128000 …

Did not some Asian music channel recently broadcast a track celebrating pimping and exploitation (rape) of white girls? I'd like to know what action the BBC has taken against those involved in this? Have they been fired, or is it the usual BBC double-standards?
-
Yeah, this. I don't pay the telly tax to allow these double standards to take place.

Nobody is that stupid, he says he didn't know Meghan had had a baby? Unbelievable.
-
Why haven’t
@bbcasiannetwork sacked the people who played the rap song glorifying the rape of white girls? Extremely offensive if less personal than the Danny Baker (never found him funny btw) quote

He loves his own voice and from all I talk to they think the same. There must be 7 billion better candidates for radio presenter on this planet surely?

From the moment he started 606 all that time ago he has been irritating the life out of the British public with his pretentious style. This is great news. One fewer
@MillwallFC fan in the media is a plus too. -
Tired old commentary (I was going to say 'humour' but it isn't) that dies off years ago. Don't think I've ever found him the least bit entertaining. Time he was seen but not heard ( preferably not seen either imo)

in any other work environment, he would be sacked. An apology not enough in this instance
-
Exactly, it really is shocking !
-
His attempt apology made it worse.....he tried to say the people who are offended are racist not him..he didn’t see the connection...It’s like he thought..how can kill my career in one tweet...

Totally disagree. He’s an experienced veteran broadcaster who should know better. In any job with a big organisation you would ( and should ) be sacked for that. Showed it to people at work this morning and that was instant reaction. What a fool .

Perhaps the BBC should ask Dave Lee Travis to stand in for Danny Baker. That would make for a perfect circle of irony!

Find one, just one tiny previous racist comment or behaviour by Danny and I'll agree with the punishment. As it is Baker has regularly over the years done jokes and sketches about monkeys e.g. monkeys dressed as famous people. He made a stupid mistake, deleted it and apologised.

Agreed, but he’ll still get one anyway because that’s the world we live in these days and it’s too hard for everyone involved not to have one.

There is a huge and very profitable industry based on this sort of thing now, Too much money involved to overlook any thought crimes. The Left weaponised this nonsense for use against their opponents. Ironically capitalism has turned the witchfinders against their own creators.

He was literally sacked two minutes after I posted that tweet (according to BBC news).
