Er, okaaaaaaay, Danny. If you say so. But the connotations of a mixed race baby being likened to a fucking chimpanzee weren’t really *that* subtle, were they?https://twitter.com/SkyNews/status/1126428967047716864 …

"Apologetic" Danny Baker insists he didn't realise the connotations of a tweet which got him sacked from the BBC. The radio DJ posted a photo of a man and woman holding hands with a suited chimpanzee with the caption: "Royal baby leaves hospital". http://po.st/FPaQwF  pic.twitter.com/flfrPAliOi

I saw class mockery before anything else. Sorry. As the parent of a mixed-race kid I find this overreaction worrying.

Danny must be a bit dense if he didn't realise that posting a photo of a chimpanzee in relation to a mixed race baby wouldn't get a negative response. He may not be racist but who would want to employ someone that thick? 😂

Danny is a football fan who must be aware that Monkey chanting at black footballers is a problem. Knowing that and knowing that people will draw conclusions should have made him think twice. If he didn't work that one out, he really is as thick as mince.

Imagine if he were a Brexit Party candidate. The Left would be foaming at the mouth and there would be protests and calls for them to be banned.. Bet they keep quiet over this one though.

Have you seen some of the replies? It wasn't meant as racist. Of course it bloody was, not even subtle.

I don't believe for second that Danny baker is a racist. He's has got an off the wall nutty v British sense of humour. He didn't think this through, obviously. Others are making it all about racism.

He wanted to make fun of the Royal Family (tick that box, BBC), but clumsily got bogged down in "racist" accusations (sack him, BBC).

Oh, I see. I think it's a fuss over nought, though, and didn't justify a sacking. I confess I'd never heard of him.

It was, yes; but I still think it's pretty trivial. It doesn't look as if he meant to be racist - but these days, that doesn't count for much, once they start screaming "racist".
