Juncker’s right, you know. If he’d intervened in the 2016 referendum campaign, he would definitely have made a difference to the vote: it would have been 60% to Leave.https://twitter.com/SkyNewsPolitics/status/1125792424289292288 …

"I was wrong to be silent at an important moment." European Commission President @JunckerEU says it was a "mistake" not to intervene during the 2016 EU referendum. More on this story here: http://po.st/MJVgJa  pic.twitter.com/j5TMLex58h

Why are we even discussing things like this? We had a referendum in 2016 The majority of people who voted, voted to leave. We were told by both major parties that we would leave 2 years after triggering article 50. We should have left in March. This is MAD!

I think the EU can see the rise of Farage and are starting to crap themselves. Need to hop out, buy some popcorn. Its going to be a fun 3 weeks!

How could he believe it would have helped? However his fit of pique this morning was probably due to the fact he had been informed that the UK would be running the EP elections. There could be 35+ Brexit MEPs trying to wreak havoc in the parliament + situation of MEPs in waiting.

It's not that we can't cope independently, it's just that we would simply not do as well. We'll still have to abide by certain rules made by the remaining EU countries if we want to interact with them, we just won't have a say in them any more. And we'll be much poorer...

You entirely miss his point. EU policy is NOT to intervene in national politics unless an absolutely core value is at stake e.g. in Hungary. The assumption is that local politicians promote European values. Frustration that UK politicians never held up their end of the bargain
