Well Theresa May is the first woman politician to betray democracy. Seems there are 'firsts' going on all over the shop.

Of the two women PMs, one was a resounding success story whilst the other is a miserable and disastrous failure. One cancels the other and we're back at zero. So who is up for the first woman PM to save Britain from the EU?
-
That ex Peterborough MP would be a good shout!!!

Julia. It’s important that it’s stated. For all we know Penny May identify as a man, so this clarification is helpful. Be woke.

Completely, absolutely, totally agree.I am not a woman.I am not gay.I am not disabled.I am white. I don't care who gets a job as long as they are the best placed to do it. Until the media stops highlighting that x has got y(insinuating because of w) we'll not eradicate prejudice

I dunno - what do you think? daughter of a serviceman, apparently named after HMS Penelope, is a Royal Navy reservist, represents a Portsmouth constituency and previously served as Minister of State for the Armed Forces 2015-16, apparently
-
Yes. All qualities that would suggest a link to the department to which she's been appointed. She could have been a he, and still had defence credentials. Nothing to do with gender.
-
Well yes and no. If she is so well qualified, and I don't doubt any of it, then why was she not given the job before rather than the pipsqueak Williamson?
-
Because May was politically wedded to her former chief whip

Difference is Ms Mordaunt is daughter of a serviceman, apparently named after HMS Penelope, is a Royal Navy reservist, represents a Portsmouth constituency and previously served as Minister of State for the Armed Forces 2015-16, so perhaps has more connections than predecessor
-
And so this may be the reason, not her gender.

I personally have had enough women MP's to last a lifetime! Feel so dismayed with the actions of many & despair of them, ie. May, Soubry, Lucas, Cooper, Allen, Wollaston, Rudd, Sturgeon, Long-Bailey, Phillips, Abbott.. They should have stayed at their kitchen sinks in my view!
-
The problem with a lot is they are elevated in party based on sex and not meritocracy to satisfy gender quotas or image than the party supports women MPs, which does not help produce quality candidates.. Less focus on identity groups and more on ability would be far better.
-
Absolutely spot on Wolf, credibility no longer a prerequisite!
