Not a fault; but it's *one* of the reasons explaining male/female pay differentials in certain fields Those who are more confident, assertive & pushy will seek pay raises more frequently and negotiate better increases. Ditto putting oneself forward for internal promotion

Imho, women tend to look to those around them to see who / how many counter their negative assertion as a way to measure support, whereas men would expect only negative feedback from a negative assertion, so almost always positively assert themselves and look to see who follows.
