This is the reality behind the pig-tailed little girl being feted as the saviour of the world. It is just tragic. You really do need to read this.
Self-Harm Versus the Greater Good: Greta Thunberg and Child Activism https://quillette.com/2019/04/23/self-harm-versus-the-greater-good-greta-thunberg-and-child-activism/ … via @Quillette

Like Toby Young's response, this is rather quite sad, seeing a grown, seemingly intelligent women unwilling to acknowledge someone else doing something, well, good.
-
You have no concern for the well-being of this girl? She spends enough time out of school to be held back. She already has autism, let’s not give her narcissism and a cult on top of that.

I thought it was a very well written article, and clearly shows how flawed society is in allowing this young girl to take 1000’s of young kids out on strike from school. But the FBPE mob will have their agenda, and will no doubt name call and abuse anyone who sees it differently.
-
Hmmm whats more important in the grand scheme of things? Some kids missing a few days of school or the extinction of our planet... it sure is a tough one.
-
What’s more important is the kids staying in school, getting an education, going to university to try and find ways of helping, not sitting outside having a bloody strop.
-
Yes im sure this one week of protests will hinder their education. The fact you call campaigning for environmental change 'having a strop" says it all.
-
If you want to change it, you have to change it from within the system. This isn’t going to change anything, we need solutions to the plastics issue, to global warming. What PRACTICAL good will this do? Please?
-
Strike action is literally the most effective way of affecting change. It always has been, always will be.https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2019/apr/24/greta-thunberg-general-strike-action-climate-change …
-
No mate it really isn’t. Strike action is the last resort after lots and lots of talking (hey guess what, before you disagree I’ll just advise I’m involved in trade union movement so I can tell you that’s a fact)
-
So the kids should just wait around for 25 years until the climate change deniers in power are gone and they can affect change then. Even though scientists have already released reports saying we cant wait that long. The disregard and disdain for future generations is shocking

The article is hugely inaccurate in what it suggests: that having autism, Selective Mutism and OCD prevents Greta from having a valid and informed opinion that is worth listening to. That’s wrong as well as being discriminatory.
-
She is 16 and vulnerable. At this age I don't know anyone who has an 'informed' opinion. She is clearly using the climate change as a way of dealing with her own de eloomental, behavioural and mental health issues. This is not the kind of help she needs.
-
I think your remark demonstrates a lack of insight into young people, and specifically young people with Aspergers. Like Julia you are making discriminatory assumptions that don’t reflect the reality of what a 16 yr old with Aspergers (such as Greta) might be capable of.
-
People with ASD are typically high achievers. What she achieved in the UK is total chaos and the higher and higher rise of virtue signalling

-
And I don’t buy into the ‘virtue signalling’ nonsense - it’s just an insult used by not very nice people to demean people who are attempting to be good people and do the right thing.
-
That's a shame because that's what you're doing.
-
Well, you’re entitled to your opinion on that. However when we started this conversation I wasn’t the one patronising and being negative about a 16 year old woman overcoming the challenges of a disability to attempt to highlight climate change. That was you.
-
She didn't overcome her disability at all. All this may actually prove to be quite harmful to her in the long run as the hype will die dien and she will probably stop talking and eating again. It's how it goes.

What do you care for accuracy? You have been scurrying around retweeting *anything* that remotely looks like you can dismantle this story. Impartiality, truth, accuracy: you do not care. You are compelled to rage against the left at all costs. Go back to stuffing envelopes

Argument lost....
