Can people please stop attacking *and* deifying Greta Thunberg. She’s a vulnerable 16yr old with Asperger’s who’s terrified her world is about to end. Don’t be cross with her, be bloody furious with the adults who’ve told her those lies and are using her for their political aims.

Climate deniers are like
hear no evidence &
see no evidence &
shout complete bullshit.
Meanwhile, in the reality based world, we are hurtling towards the end of human civilization on our current trajectory. No hyperbole.

Sorry, diddums, do scientific articles put you to sleep because they use long words? That must be nice for you. Unfortunately for us grown-ups, including intelligent children who CAN read, like Greta, they keep us up at night, terrified. Because we care about reality and humans.

Well said.

Which of your qualifications in environmental science do you base this on, Julia?
-
My ability to read.
-
Thank goodness we have you to do all the reading for us that qualified academics have been unable to do all this time! Thought for a second we might have been in trouble then.

"Humans may well be contributing to that change" There is no "may well be" about it, humans ARE contributing to it. And no, she didn't claim the earth will end but we will suffer major consequences that will harm human life.
-
Yes, that is a fair summary of climate science at the current time.
-
It really isn't. Your statement allows a degree of uncertainty that gives leeway for climate change deniers to oppose proposals to tackle climate change.

And what qualifies you to say that almost all climate scientists are wrong, do you have irrefutable evidence from your own research to back this up?
-
When did all climate scientists say that? Even the last IPCC report doesn’t make the absurd claims that Greta does.
-
IPCC report says that 1.5-2 degrees would cause huge instability in ecosystems, loss of natural habitat for 6-18% of insect life. If you think that won’t have a significant impact on us then you’re sorely mistaken.

Yes,human activity affects climate http://change.An undeniable fact based on observation. Climate change has been happening ever since the flood and Noah’s ark. Life span went from 900+yrs to 120 yrs due to changes in climate conditions because of the “flood”. Believe!

Effectively every government in the world signed up to the IPCC’s latest report which concluded unequivocally that human activity is the cause of 1C of observed global climate change, and that continued ghg emissions will lead to at least 3C and potentially over 8C by end century

This! Julia thinks she knows far more than the scientists. She really doesn't!

That is just ignorant. Go and say that to Sir David Attenborough. He can talk you through it.
-
She'd try to tell him where he'd gone wrong
