Oh they can and they will in their multitudes if the government brings him anywhere near them. Freedom of expression is a wonderful thing.https://twitter.com/JuliaHB1/status/1120689623246807040 …

Here’s the rule: if you didn’t object when state visits were rolled out for murderous dictators like the Saudi king and the Chinese President then you can’t complain if the democratically elected (and not convicted of any crime) leader of our closest ally is invited here. https://twitter.com/simon_schama/status/1120518584936148992 …

Indeed they will, but if they are more angry about a democratically elected leader (no matter how unpleasant he is) than a murderous totalitarian dictator then, frankly, they are idiots.

It’s simple, they cannot accept Trump or Brexit, both were democratically elected.....funny that?

Don't forget the emir sheikh of Qatar in 2010. He's some sort of totalitarian bastard, but I don't remember any noise at all being made around his visit.

Sure, that's fine. But, again, the protest against this guy is rational, ie, objecting to his sponsorship of terrorism. It's not simply because we don't like him as a person, which seems to be the objection to Trump's visit. And that's irrational.

How sneering and condescending of you to call someone an idiot. If a call a Brexit voter who thinks the EU is run by unelected bureaucrats whilst simultaneously relishing the opportunity to vote in the EU elections for Farage an idiot I’m condescending 🤷🏻‍♂️

Can they be just as angry? Or just a teeny-bit-less-angry-but-still-angry? Is there a measurable scale?

Trump gets more stick than those other tyrants because he’s a brand. The backlash he gets is the other side of that coin.
