Denying us a vote is denying democracy. Interesting. I suppose ignoring a vote if you don't like the result is democracy? Perhaps Jessica would like to clarify?

Yes, happy to. If the majority of the country no longer wants the Brexit on offer (ie two years of vassal state followed by years of wrangling) then to go ahead nonetheless is to act against the will of the people. In order to know whether it is wanted, we need to vote on it.

With respect, how do you know the majority of the country no longer wants Brexit? And, if you got your second vote and lost again, what then?

My home city... I am literally the only one of my peers that voted Leave. It's always fun talking politics... 😔 Met a friend of mine at Christmas that said I was the first Leaver she had ever met. 🤦‍♀️ Suffice to say she was pleasantly surprised and reassured so not all bad

I do not understand how a country could be called a democracy if its population was not allowed either to change its mind or to say that the facts were not what had been promised, ie they had never voted for what was finally offered.

Why is it some think democracy is a one off? Something u use just once, then discard? This halfway democracy is a cheat. It is not democracy. When it remains alive & kicking is it the genuine article. But its biggest threat today comes from those who rant of its betrayal.

Some people decide to go to the pub - but which pub? The Brown Cow or The Black Bull? Via a vote, they settle on TBC. As they are passing TBB, it starts to rain & someone calls for another vote. However, those intent on going to TBC say that would be undemocratic. Why I wonder?

“Incredible energy”, “inspirational”, “shared objective”? Is she sure she was at the CHUK/TIG launch (relaunch?)? Wouldn’t lethargy, despondency, redundancy, irrelevancy, phoneyism, forced optimism, hidden agendas and jostling egos have been nearer the mark?

Interesting suggestion that it is possible to "impose" a democratically selected option on the people who chose it. Or is she only referring to the people who voted 'Remain'? If that's the case, she can't be a very successful barrister, with such a lack of argumentative prowess.
