Er, didn’t we bring in the tests precisely because teachers weren’t teaching? A huge number of children under-achieve while many leave school with no qualifications. No other profession has such a high failure rate. Maybe that’s why they don’t want their pupils tested...https://twitter.com/jeremycorbyn/status/1118190506889052167 …

You get paid good money for this, the more you do it, the more you earn. Same as Hopkins.

I’m a teacher. I teach Year 6. I’ve got no problem with testing - it shows progress and attainment. But I work at a school with (on the whole) supportive, educated parents. Our results are good. Not so easy in a poorer area, with EAL kids or ones with not so supportive parents.
-
There are kids who try very hard, nice polite kids, who we put lots of support in place for and who’ll make lovely adults but who aren’t academic, who struggle to remember or make connections - tests show them as ‘working towards age-related expectations’. Hard for an 11 year old

You have tweeted no facts. You just splurged your usual half baked contempt for whatever person came into view. You pollute this country

Just because you believe it doesn’t mean they are facts.

You freely mistake opinion for facts, don't you? Is it some sort of gift?

Keep up Julia! Tests were bought in by Numpties. Children under achieved because teachers had to be social workers, administrators & parents instead of bloody teachers! Numpty Gove’s reign as ES saw the majority of the best teachers quitting as they weren’t allowed to teach!!!

You have no idea how much pressure current teachers are under. If you did you would not spout such bile. What has actually happened to you to make you so bitter?

What facts? There are no facts in your statement, just opinions. Feel free to provide some facts to back up your statements

Its ignorance, stupidity, baselessness and arrogance, I would guess.

Entire classes don’t fail Julia, usually just a small number of pupils in each. Problems mainly 2-fold: lack of measurement means teachers don’t know who to focus on more, and lack of effort from children from some families that don’t value education. SATs helps/encourages both.

Many comments asking Julia to prove her facts, but I can’t help notice nobody bothered to disprove the comment either.

-
You didn't read very closely. First she is taking a multi-varied problem - some children underachieve and 1) blaming one factor, teachers. Not government underfunding and mismanagement meaning hours are wasted on things which don't benefit children 1
-
Not the fact that teachers end up being social workers to kids and trying to deal with societal and parental shortcomings, when care outside school is also being cut. Not the fact that teachers work 60-70 hr wks, much of it admin which doesn't benefit learning 2
-
Not the fact that class sizes are often 30+ when Finland the country with the best education results consistently has a max of 17. Not the fact that's it become such a stressful job that half of new teachers leave within a year. And her solution? She ignores the fact 3
-
That Finland has no national testing till 18 and that is teacher assessed. Finland is a country which values and respects education and teachers. While in the UK we have ignorant, arrogant Dunning-Kruger scale-tipping foolish trolls like JHB on top of all the other shit. Get it?
-
Read carefully, twice now. No references to prove anything as I said, even since I wrote my comment. Read up on the definition of “trolling” and take time to reflect. If you don’t like JHB says nobody forces you to read it. Get it?
-
If I thought you had a genuine intellectual curiosity in this, rather than joining hatemonger JHB for kicks, I would've cited. All of what I've said is basic knowledge to any in education. Google it if you are interested. Or if you have genuine curiosity frame a genuine question
-
I have no question. I make a simple observation and look at the reaction it sparked. If I see anything written is untrue, I reference facts. National testing was scrapped in Scotland in 2003 and standards went down.Hatemonger? It’s plain to see where the hate is.
