Julia I don't think women should ever be judged on what their husbands, wives or partners do for a living; it's odd that both the left & right seem to believe this is an acceptable level of debate.
-
Agree. With women especially, there’s always a desperate desire to find out what the husband does, as if that defines the wife somehow

Once on here I mentioned that I lived near Portsmouth for many years. Someone said to me “oh was your husband in the navy?”. Never occurred to them that actually no, it’s me who was.

I couldn’t write a cheque in the NAAFI without having to write my husband’s rank and number on the back of it! You will know all about the various protocols though.

I get this as well sometimes, usually in relation to my father. The idea being that women can only get involved with politics if their father/husband tells them to, or if a rich man pays them to do it.

Morning Julia. Any update on HMRC's current attitude to you being paid through a personal service company contract? I mean you pretty much work for only one or two employers so I guess HMRC will be be examining IR35 to establish your true tax status. Good luck.
-
No update I’m aware of, no. I probably know more about my employment than you do, but hey ho.
-
Does HMRC know as much about your employment as you do?
-
Funny thing is the EU demand staff of MEPs (and some other types of staff) in the UK are paid as service providers, and it's all perfectly legal because they say it is.
