Just had an MRI scan for a back problem. Bloody scary experience. Waited 2 months for the NHS appointment. Arrived early & seen straight away because the patient before me didn’t turn up. Up to 20% of patients don’t turn up to their MRI scans. What a waste of NHS resources.

What is a waste is how 73% of scanners are used for less than 80 hours per week.

Is it though? Presumably, they run like airlines where they overbook for the day, assuming done people don't turn up.

Many patients who require MRI scans require an ambulance to transport them. Many ambulances are elsewhere, on emergencies etc. so patients are left. Also staff booking scans seem unaware of shift starting times for ambulance crews.
