Just had an MRI scan for a back problem. Bloody scary experience. Waited 2 months for the NHS appointment. Arrived early & seen straight away because the patient before me didn’t turn up. Up to 20% of patients don’t turn up to their MRI scans. What a waste of NHS resources.

I had no idea the MRI scanner was so small inside. It’s like being locked inside a brightly lit (and very noisy) coffin. The staff were lovely and played music for me to pass the 15 minutes inside but... well, I’m still waiting for my heart rate to back go down...

When I had mine I had a drug for contrast that made me want to urgently urinate. So lying there, thinking you’ve got cancer, and desperate for a wee. You don’t actually need a wee, you just get the urge. It’s weird.

Oh god yeah, it wasn’t tonsil cancer after all. But my cousin died from it, so brown trousers all round. Thanks for asking.
