Has there been *any* pause for thought from Brexiteers who said Brexit on March 29 could not be stopped? It's now been delayed twice - and will be until a Tory Brexiteer wins a majority at an election. And that means giving Lab the chance to block Brexit altogether. BIG gamble.

Well, yes, obviously we were foolish to believe what MPs actually said about not blocking Brexit. More fool us. We won’t make that mistake again.

But that's exactly what it looks like you're doing. I'm not making a moral point, but a tactical one. Why not accept the deal, get out and go again -- take the 80 percent win and don't risk a 100 percent loss

It’s not an 80% win. It’s not even a 1% win. It’s not Brexit. It’s a cunning Remoaner EU/UK civil service wheeze cooked up to keep us tied to the EU forever with no get out clause. I’d rather start again from scratch than be blackmailed into agreeing to this faux Brexit.

Fair enough if you believe that, I just don't see it. The backstop (for all its flaws - & they are many and serious) is the tool to achieve all you want: GB out of everything - hard Brexit. Price is simple: NI alone accepts EU rules. How is that a 1% win?

Imagine even being asked to carve up the UK as the price to continue friendly relations with a supposed trading bloc we were told hardly affected day-to-day life! That's not an 80% win. And with the parliament we have, it's unlikely to get better.

I'm referring to how the EU was framed pre-ref. Leavers were scoffed at for highlighting the EU's powers.

1%. Really????? CFP, CAP, EC, SM, ever closer union, army, etc that's like more like 90%. It took 40 years to get in, it might take more than 5 to get out... but the idea the is not brexit is just silly...

By the time we have sacrificed all leverage & handed over NI as hostage, we'll get very little of that. Fish quotas will be demanded (so no real escape from CFP). May has already signed us up to EU Defence Union, and WA commits us to staying in. /1

Unless you are prepared to break-up the UK, we'll be fully in SM+CU (dreaded Norway+ = Remain minus) for co-called "frictionless" trade. We might get out of CAP (but level playing field will constrain our subsidy regime), but CAP is being wound down in any case. /2

The WA already commits us to building the future relationship on the backstop single customs territory. There's no way to escape the backstop trap, short of accepting a permanent hard Irish Sea border & abandoning NI. /3pic.twitter.com/TH6RLZJHE4

Having signed a binding international treaty, there'll be no escaping these obligations and commitments. With no exit clause, we'll be stuck in a faux-Brexit purgatory - with rejoining the EU the only escape - which is the entire plan of course.

We voted to regain our independence. Sovereignty is not negotiable, any trade deal with the EU must be consistent with really Leaving (SM, CU and ECJ jurisdiction). Remainers and faux-neutral commentators just don't get how toxic the WA is. Years of wrangling, Macron' s customs union with zero voice, all manner of horrors confected to ensure a humiliating return. No thanks, WTO please.

Second that. If I voted to revoke Article 50 it would because I had no other choice, not for it being a carefully considered option weighed up against pros and cons. I would never vote for Mays Surrender Treaty, Corbyns Custom Union or any deal that leaves us forever trapped.

If we were ever to sign the EU's WA - they would simply say, cede to everything we want or we will never allow you to leave. Does anyone seriously the EU will negotiate in good faith? We are still paying them £25 Million each & every day! Imagine what services that could fund.
