This is a mad idea & it probably won’t ever catch on but I’m going to throw this out here anyway. Just imagine how happy we’d all be and how productive our nation would be if everyone just did the job they are paid to do and did it well. I know... #DareToDream

Maybe if millions of people got paid enough to enjoy a decent standard of living, were able to afford to buy their own home and had a reasonable expectation their kids would do better than they did that might happen #actuallydaretodream

Those things would all be good too. But far more attainable if people did a good job in the first place, regardless of income. I’ve done plenty of very badly paid jobs. But I did them well.

Given you are an alumnus of Magdalen you would have known you wouldn't be doing a mundane and badly paid job forever. When people are struggling to make ends meet and maybe have a family to bring up, knowing your lot is a badly paid and tedious job is hardly motivating.

She wouldn't know... she might have believed and that power of belief is as you imply a powerful motivator. Constantly telling people that they cannot achieve has the opposite effect.

Lots of people in this country ascribe their success to their own hard work & ability when in reality family background & often privileged education are more important factors - I offer @David_Cameron as evidence. A little bit more understanding of how tough life can be is needed

"A little bit more understanding of how tough life can be is needed"... that sounds a bit sinister ..I suspect you didn't mean it to be..but pol pot could have said that. They were born into families that gave them a positive outlook on life..that's not something to be blamed for
