Yes, Jon Snow's comment was stupid. And wrong. Should #Ofcom, a state-approved regulator, be investigating his speech? No. Once again for the people in the back: free speech is *not* *just* *speech* *you* *agree* *with* 👏👏👏https://twitter.com/talkRADIO/status/1115212983259602947 …

Ofcom will investigate comments made by Channel 4 News presenter Jon Snow about having "never seen so many white people in one place" during a pro-Brexit protest on 29 March. The watchdog received 2,644 complaints for Mr Snow's remark on the day the UK was meant to leave the EU. pic.twitter.com/n1YJ8f57SR

Disagree, strongly. I don't want witch-hunts or calls for sackings against anyone for their views. He was rightly censured in the court of public opinion for wrongfully smearing the #leavemeansleavemarch - and we need free speech to continue to expose such bigotry

No, that’s not how broadcasting works. A guest would be able to say what Snow said but not the “impartial” host of a news show broadcast on a terrestrial channel. His job is to be neutral. This isn’t about free speech, it’s about a broadcaster obeying the rules.

Does @Nigel_Farage ? By promoting his party every 5 mins? And getting paid for the privilege on LBC? Turned on and he says.. “I know the no.10 press office follow my show” Then I switched off. Why do they? How does he know? Because he’s a part of it? As are you? 🤷‍♂️ #NoReply

No, LBC and TalkRadio presenters are not required to be neutral (except during election periods). They are overtly giving their own opinions and those opinions will be balanced over any given day or week by other opinions. News readers & reporters must be neutral.

So. Prime time gets all the madness.... Middle of the night it’s like radio used to be? Without so much propaganda filling peoples heads? Bit like BBC news?

John Snow is more a presenter. He presents the news. He doesn’t read it. That would be my defence. Especially off the cuff. I don’t feel he read it.

He presented that piece of news as opinion. As you as a presenter does! It’s created more easy work for everyone involved anyway. #GravyTrain. Can we find out the full cost of this nonsense. And a breakdown of Lawyers fees.
