Yes, Jon Snow's comment was stupid. And wrong. Should #Ofcom, a state-approved regulator, be investigating his speech? No. Once again for the people in the back: free speech is *not* *just* *speech* *you* *agree* *with* 👏👏👏https://twitter.com/talkRADIO/status/1115212983259602947 …

No, that’s not how broadcasting works. A guest would be able to say what Snow said but not the “impartial” host of a news show broadcast on a terrestrial channel. His job is to be neutral. This isn’t about free speech, it’s about a broadcaster obeying the rules.

If @krishgm says ‘Asian Grooming Gangs’ is that ok because of his heritage? And it’s fine for Trevor McDonald to say ‘Black on Black crime’, but not Jon Snow. Weird logic, but thanks for explaining.

In fairness, Adam Boulton makes no pretence at impartiality & is particularly rude about Brexiteers but what sanctions are invoked against him? None. So, ‘impartiality’ is another one of those fine principles that we used 2 cherish but do so no longer, with ‘democracy’ being next

          A) the crowd for the people’s vote the weekend before was a whiter crowd and no mention B) It could be said that calling the normal indigenous population of the UK a “white crowd” is tarring them with some neo Nazi crap. Why mention that white UK people are white otherwise?

          A) The million-strong crowd for the Remain march came from all over the UK, which is, overall, more white anyway. Despite this, there were many non-white faces! B) The Leaver crowd was almost entirely white, which was very unusual. If you infer a view about racism, that’s you.
