Ah, but faith schools DO interfere with my choices. All of my local state schools are faith schools, most requiring church attendance. Why should I have to lie about my faith for years on Sunday mornings so I can get my child into a school my taxes pay for?

Next thing the schools will do is separate the children into 3 streams based on how their parents voted in the Referendum and those who didn't vote
-
Surely that is already happening with streaming by ability ? Given that we Leave voters are all so thick, I assume our children will all be in the bottom stream already.
-
My daughter is so thick that she only got a First at Cambridge and now a doctor/anesthetist. The same with my son who is also a doctor. Imagine if I voted Remain how much better they would have done

You don't believe parents have the right to bring up their children how they see fit? When the state knows best we're in big trouble. Keep your noses out of family lives.
-
They can indeed bring their kids up as they choose and teach them about any God they want. But I don’t see why my taxes should pay for their choices or why our children should be segregated from each other.
-
Every state school pushes a set of beliefs - don't imagine you're neutral just because you agree with them. Why should Muslims pay taxes for schools that promote the theory of evolution? It works both ways. Except you only see it when it goes against your beliefs. I'm not Muslim.

Wow sometimes Julia surprises me, as she shows signs of a humane and caring side to her character.
-
Aw shucks. I won’t make a habit of it, don’t worry.

You are right but perhaps not for the reason you give. Faith schools are usually just worried about league positions, exam results etc. This in turn brings into question SEND within them. This is my view after 40 years of teaching and seeing what happens.
-
I agree. Selection by academic ability/social class but by the back door. But the basic premise of faith schools is deeply wrong in the modern world.

And at the same time have no problem with sports or music academies

The opposite is true though. A childs religion should have no impact whatsoever on the education they receive however every child should be given the best education possible to match their academic and other abilities.

Religion causes divisions! Causes more hassle in the world than what it’s worth!

Children should not have their parents faith put on them - mixed schools allow kids to have a more balanced view that is more reflective of society,

I don't think either is wrong.
