"All MPs have a duty to deliver on the manifestos on which they were elected," says May. In 1990 the Tory government pulled a disastrous policy which had been detailed in 1987 Conservative manifesto. Nobody batted a lid. The policy was the Poll Tax.

May did deliver a WA. Then, the house agreed it was moronic

In 2017 the Tory manifesto offered MPs a vote on bringing back fox hunting, repeating Cameron’s earlier promise. When they lost their majority May withdrew that pledge. It can be done!

Surely you’re not going to claim that governments are bound to deliver all policies in their manifesto, without variation or regard to subsequent circumstances, or indeed the fact they are only a minority government?

"In 1990 the Tory government pulled a disastrous policy which had been detailed in 1987 Conservative manifesto. Nobody batted a lid. The policy was the Poll Tax." Translation: "It's OK to renege on a promise when it doesn't suit me".

Promises made by vote leave Keep single market access on same or better terms. End free movement for EU citizens but not the British. More money for the NHS. Stop paying into the EU budget. Destroy the remains of the UKs manufacturing industry. Seems only 1 being kept in full.

So you admit there might be problems with the policy? Problem is, once it’s enacted, there’s no turning back unless you want the Euro and Shengen

So they treated voters like idiots by implementing a policy they knew would be bad, and that voters had only voted on by proxy. Quite the parallel with today: any specific brexit scenario is only voted on by proxy, as the botched referendum asked an uninformative question.

So if there’s problems with Brexit would it not be the same to change it and not go through with it?
