The haste with which the illiberal Left sought to exploit the murder of 50 Muslims in the New Zealand terror attack is sickening. I am just one of many “right wing” commentators (coincidentally all Brexiteers) accused of having “blood on my hands” for that horrific massacre. 1/3

The accusation is that anyone who speaks out in favour of controlled immigration, of the need for integration of diverse communities or against Islamic extremism, the burka or niqab or sharia law is EXACTLY THE SAME as the mass murderer who killed 50 innocent people. 2/3

So here’s just a small taste of the tweets sent to me in the wake of Friday’s terror attack. Too many screenshots for one tweet so this is 3/4pic.twitter.com/lsJeU0lZb0

And no, I don’t think I’m a “victim”. The victims of this terror attack are lying in the morgue or fighting for their lives in hospital. But when people expressing reasonable & mainstream views are labelled as “far right” or “fascist” or “Islamophobic” & blamed for inspiring...

... mass murder by a white supremacist racist lunatic, then something is going horribly wrong in our public discourse. This is a blatant attempt to exploit this crime, to intimidate, to censor & divide us. It will not succeed.

Not-very-many decades ago, misogynistic views were generally considered to be "reasonable" & "mainstream". Did that make them acceptable? Islamophobia is only "reasonable" & "mainstream" in the context of the considerably right-biased Overton Window in which we in the UK live.

Right now in almost all Muslim countries, misogyny is alive and well with women treated as second class citizens. And right now in almost all Muslim countries, homosexuality it’s punishable by death. As is deciding not to be a Muslim anymore. Your move.

What you are labelling as “Islamophobia” are often simply people pointing out the failings of Islamic teachings on key moral issues. I criticise the Catholic Church for the same things yet no one accuses me of Catholiphobia.

          1. Muslims aren’t a race. A close friend of mine is a white Muslim. 2. Many racists DO use “Muslim” as a code for “brown skinned person” (eg Trump) but I am not one of them. Because I am not a racist.
