The haste with which the illiberal Left sought to exploit the murder of 50 Muslims in the New Zealand terror attack is sickening. I am just one of many “right wing” commentators (coincidentally all Brexiteers) accused of having “blood on my hands” for that horrific massacre. 1/3

... mass murder by a white supremacist racist lunatic, then something is going horribly wrong in our public discourse. This is a blatant attempt to exploit this crime, to intimidate, to censor & divide us. It will not succeed.

Not-very-many decades ago, misogynistic views were generally considered to be "reasonable" & "mainstream". Did that make them acceptable? Islamophobia is only "reasonable" & "mainstream" in the context of the considerably right-biased Overton Window in which we in the UK live.
-
Right now in almost all Muslim countries, misogyny is alive and well with women treated as second class citizens. And right now in almost all Muslim countries, homosexuality it’s punishable by death. As is deciding not to be a Muslim anymore. Your move.
-
How does any of that make Islamophobia acceptable _in the UK_?
-
What you are labelling as “Islamophobia” are often simply people pointing out the failings of Islamic teachings on key moral issues. I criticise the Catholic Church for the same things yet no one accuses me of Catholiphobia.
-
You're purposely ignoring the racially motivated aspects of Islamophobia, because of course you are.
-
1. Muslims aren’t a race. A close friend of mine is a white Muslim. 2. Many racists DO use “Muslim” as a code for “brown skinned person” (eg Trump) but I am not one of them. Because I am not a racist.
-
"Many racists" also use this same exact (disengenous) argument when challenged on their bigotry.
-
Many idiots use the same arguments as you.

There are many reasonable people in this country who support your well reasoned opinions Julia.

There are many people in this country who support your opinions Julia. There, corrected it for you. But wouldn't it be nice if they were kind and well intentioned instead.

The issue is people thinking that demonising Islam is mainstream and reasonable.
-
Islam is an ideology worthy of scurrying... how hard is it for you to understand that ideas aren’t people.

Wow, only took one minute for

No-one would describe Rees-Mogg as fat right. Mark Francois is fat right.
