As an academic I know you prioritise evidence Almost every study we now have on the Brexit vote shows that (1) wanting a return of sovereignty and/or judicial independence & (2) to end free movement were the two major drivers, both of which have everything to do with the EUhttps://twitter.com/ProfBrianCox/status/1107250916523196417 …

A problem with May’s article in today’s Telegraph is she assumes the country will ‘come back together’ if her deal passes. This is nonsense. One obvious point: the causes of brexit were not in general anything to do with the EU, therefore leaving it will solve nothing.

The problem with Brian is that he thinks the country will come back together if Brexit is cancelled. He thinks telling millions that their democratic votes can be ignored will have no repercussions.

The only issue in regard repercussions is the massive apathy in today’s society that gives parliament the audacity to act in the way they do. 100-200 years ago we’d be looking at another Peterloo or even worse. But if all we can do is march and wave placards they won’t listen.

Cox may well prioritise evidence when he's doing space stuff, but when it comes to Brexit he prioritises virtue-signalling, snark, and sneering at people he considers less enlightened and sophisticated than himself
