He’s right. Please do NOT watch or share the video. You won’t be able to unsee it. The attacker is a white supremacist terrorist. Don’t help him share his message of hate. Have respect for those who have died. https://twitter.com/omarsuleiman504/status/1106388161964507137 …

Yep, in 2006 I wrote that in a column about free speech. Here is the full article. Happy to stand by it today - except now I think we should ban all face veils. Bugger all to do with today’s horrific terror attack on a mosque but I’m sure you knew that already.pic.twitter.com/GiJeASOQAN

Do you genuinely see zero connection between your/this type of rhetoric and these types of horrific events? Like none at all? Or a little contribution to an overall grim reality?

Yes. People expressing their views on issues like religion in a free society like the U.K. are not only legitimate, they are vital. Such expressions don’t remotely explain, contribute to or justify someone murdering people for their faith. It’s a nonsense to suggest they do.

A low level of journalism from @NesrineMalik really a shame when someone plays the race/religion card from the bottom of the pack, perhaps she’s wanting the exposure as she’s not really a well known columnist? How sad she has to go all the way back to a 2006 article too

More important than freedom of expression is freedom of thought. The beauty of thinking is that it changes our perceptions. Think about those Muslims who went to prayers today in fear of their lives and then think about why they might consider columns like this intimidating.
