Is starting a multi million pound business a prerequisite for having an opinion? Asking for friend.https://twitter.com/JuliaHB1/status/1104403069998125056 …

I don't measure the worth of an opinion's value by the number of people the mouthpiece of that opinion employs. If one did, all journalists would be out of work.

This idiot respects a failed capitalist system.
-
A failed capitalist system?! Lol.

That’s not capitalism’s fault. That’s a failed political system to blame. A free market in house building would see many more homes built. Trust me, all the alternatives to capitalism are bloody awful.

The invisible hand of the market will solve all problems!

God this is dull. Please don't hijack this thread into a diatribe on the pros and cons of capitalism. That's a discussion we had thirty years ago. Capitalism is better. The discussion now is how do we turn wealth into well-being.

Only if you measure achievement in £££s.
-
But, but, but aren’t we supposed to be talking about business and jobs? How else would you measure achievement?!
-
Those who I think most successful, don't seem to correlate with the group who made lots of money or built businesses very closely. The best parent I know, with the most amazing kids, was a journalist who packed it in to be a mum full time - Singlehanded.

JHB is s professional badmouth. Only by us reacting to her cheap flaky opinions are they validated. We create these talking heads and then get angry with them. She is nothing: a frothy vomit of right-wing rhetoric. Ignore her. She’ll disappear.
-
Rather than ‘react’ to opinions you find flaky, why not counter the aforementioned flaky comments with facts that undermine her comments? Should be quite simple, unless you’re nothing but a whiny snowflake frustrated with opinions you can’t refute but don’t like.
-
For the same reason I don’t bang my head against brick walls. There’s no point in engaging with a mind so narrow and incapable of viewing events from anything other than her tiny worldview. Why waste time with her? - was my central point. Which you seem to have failed to grasp.
-
I see. So you’re suggesting I spend my waking hours arguing with every Murdoch/Dacre brainwashed moron I can find because to do otherwise implies cowardice. Not going to happen.
-
No, I’m suggesting that if you have time to be making ad hominem attacks on those you disagree with and have time to write tweets explaining why you don’t have time to write tweets, you could be dismantling irrational arguments as I’m doing here.
-
I don’t recall ‘attacking’ anyone. I made the point that we create JHBs by feeding attention to them and by withdrawing that attention we are able to effectively deflate them of existential purpose. That’s an observation not an argument so there’s nothing for you to dismantle.
-
JHB has a significant following because she says things which many people agree with. You don’t, so you call her names and tell people to ignore her. If I disagree with someone I say why, and present facts to counter their narrative. If there were no facts I’d call them names.
