I’ve never read the book, seen the musical or had any interest in Les Misérables. But as everyone else reckons it’s so good, I decided to watch the BBC series on iplayer. Finally reached episode 6. Good grief but it drags on. Can’t wait for them all to die so it can end. Zzzzzzz.

This says more about you than about the series! The world you live in is a long way from that depicted by Victor Hugo

So is this badly edited BBC PC indotrination version, 'a long way from Victor Hugo'

I thought it was alright. 19 years for nicking a loaf of bread though. That’s some serious sentencing policy there.

Same sentence citizens get in Venezuela now, if they’re lucky enough to find a loaf to steal.

Read the book in my teens. Even the 50 page chapter on the Paris sewerage system was interesting - doesn’t say much for BBC effort. Film version with Uma Thurman, Liam Neeson & Geoffrey Rush far better.

Yes I completely agree! The BBC PC indoctrination version was also so badly edited that it didn't make any sense. But the film version with Neeson was far better and did make sense and so worked very well as a complete story.

Try something a bit more your level, like a Dorries novel. Nice easy words.
