For the most under-represented people in British journalism I'd imagine? Especially at the BBC
-
Are they under-represented *because* of their race or class - or because of other reasons?
-
Why don't journalists who support this action (for no doubt the best of motives) give up their jobs to members of either social group, rather than depriving others, not so 'woke', of the opportunity?
-
Happened to buzzfeed. I laughed so hard that day.

Positive discrimination, it’s descrimination but we have put an adjective in front of it which makes it seem desirable and good!

How is that even allowed? It's pure discrimination - it appears if you're White, Christian, able-bodied and straight. then you are the enemy of the British establishment

Wow, surely that's racist. Employing people on their skin colour & not because of their skills & being the best candidate for the job is blatant discrimination.
-
Was hoping someone would ask what bame is, anyone?
-
Don't really know, but labeling people is part of the problem, why does everyone need a label? Labeling people is the biggest cause of highlighting a difference, surely there will never be equality until we stop labeling people & highlighting skin colour or sexual orientation.

This is descrimination!! Surely this is illegal to even put this on the ad! If you said only white British need apply Dianne Abbott would implode!

This same thing happened to a young man who passed all the requirements with flying colours but wasn't offered a place as a policeman as he wished because the requirements were for BAME and other. What happened to the best candidate for the job?
-
Amazing how many ‘best candidates for the job’ all go to the same school. Look what having the alumni of Eton College running the country has done for the U.K.
-
Well, Lancaster Uni, actually, he lodged a discrimination claim and won. He was the son of a police inspector but the force wanted diversity, so not Eton, a salt of the earth guy.
-
It’s also not unreasonable for the Police Force to want staff who reflect the make up of the society we all live in. Here’s to a day when the only description any of us care about is Human Being. I fear that is becoming less rather than more likely in current climate
