What exactly is the “age appropriate way” for my 12yr old daughter to be told how we’ve imported the barbaric medieval practice of cutting off a girl’s clitoris & sewing her vagina shut so her future husband can be sure he’s marrying a virgin? Just wondering...https://twitter.com/CCHQPress/status/1099600682687049729 …

Ever heard of public awareness? By raising knowledge of FGM to all communities you're increasing the likelihood of it reaching the community who needs it most.
-
Nonsense. This abuse requires targeted education and warnings to the people who actually do this. A small minority.
-
It’s patently not nonsense. The more people are informed about something the more they will talk about it. The more they talk about it, the more people will hear. It’s kind of common sense. You may not want your daughter to hear about it but that doesn’t make his point “nonsense”
-
No it patently is nonsense because in tteaching everyone about it in this manner, as if more than a few are ever likely to encounter it, it's an attempt to dilute responsibility rather than be seen to target exactly whom they ought to be targeting.
-
If I tell all children in the classroom that they need to go to a certain room when the tornado siren wails I'm not diluting responsibility, I'm increasing the likelihood that the correct action will be taken and lives will be saved. Same thing goes for fgm convos.
-
Nah. A tornado is indiscriminate. FGM doesn't just happen to people. It's targeted. A Christian or secular humanist girl born to an indigenous British family is extremely unlikely to be at risk of someone mutilating her vulva clitoris.
-
But that Christian or secular humanist (?!?!) girl may befriend a girl who is at risk, has a chat with her who grows up now understanding it's wrong. Again, targeted education isn't mutually exclusive and we're currently ignoring the targeted hard work done by FGM charities.

How about we stop pussyfooting around these precious communities and enforce our British law. If they don’t comply we deport them back to their native countries .The longer nothing is actually done (talk isn’t doing )the closer you will get to their ways becoming the norm.

-
You’re right Paul but unfortunately the establishment doesn’t have the guts.
-
The ‘ establishment ‘ will ultimately be swept away too which is ironic and replaced by the M’lim government of Britain.Perhaps they too need to wake up and smell the sheesha !

The answer is about 144,000 girls are at risk in E&W. There are 25,898 schools across the same area. So on average (and clearly the distribution is not even) 5.5 girls are at risk per school.
-
It’s certainly not an even distribution across all schools. It will be concenteated in places like Luton, Nottingham, Sheffield and Birmingham.

Hard to quantify the risk given we’ve heard so little about it and so few have been prosecuted. I’m not saying it shouldn’t be delivered in the right way and with a lot of consideration. Perhaps it would lead to someone speaking out saving a friend or classmate.

Reminds me of the Banardos tweet about it, for some reason, they used a white girl as the model.....

It’s called tip-toeing round the communities that hold such disgusting beliefs so we don’t upset them Julia. If the gov educates us all they won’t feel targeted. It’s come to this.

Perhaps your daughter would be better educated knowing how other cultures around the world treat girls & women. Giving her the strength to stand up & fight to stop this barbaric practice happening to her fellow world sisters. But on the other hand she is your daughter!?
-
Graeme’s point is spot on. Apart from the sly dig at the end.
-
Graham has no point. You are equally mentally perverse.
