Anyone with a blue tick spouting such utter and harmful crap should lose their tickhttps://twitter.com/bengreenfield/status/1094986690785988613 …

that's a fair point, actually. I suppose the concern is that not everyone is aware of that distinction - the tick can imply authority rather than simply "this person is who they say they are".
-
Jeez, that’s a worry! Even I’ve got a blue tick! X
-
ha ha, same! x
-
Having an existential crisis, I have no blue tick. Am I not me, just someone pretending to be me.
-
Be grateful, you're just not who you are! I don't even think I'm who I think I am! I may once have been who I thought I was, but looking back now I wonder if I was just then who I'm remembering I think I was then, rather than who I wasn't sure I thought I was at the time?

The right to free speech does carry the responsibility not to mislead, but I suppose this is beyond you.
-
You had a good point until you were rude.

Not rude, just fair.
-
No, it was rude and unnecessary. Would you talk like that to someone you hadn't previously met in real life?
-
Yes. Next.
-
Mike doesn’t have many friends.
-
Haha thanks so much for the note. Ersatz aristocracy is fine for a brummie.

Doesn't a blue tick also signify that the account is of public interest?
-
Julia's right in that the initial aim of it was simply to verify that the person is who they say they are.
-
Yes but remember Milo...

As if what is dangerous or nonsensical can ever be agreed upon..
-
Claiming that vaccines cause autism is both dangerous and nonsensical.
-
Agreed - but see how hordes do not! In so many areas the evidence is clear, but that somehow is overridden/ignored/suppressed/challenged by passion and false narrative..
