A failed politician who pandered to the far right and never won a seat to Parliament

He’s an elected MEP. His party won’t the EU elections in 2014 that forced the Tories to promise an EU referendum - a move which won the Tories enough votes in 2015 to form a majority govt and be forced to hold that referendum. Not sure that’s a good definition of “failed”.
-
That is not accurate Julia, David Cameron promised an EU referendum in January 2013.
-
Yes but it was only after UKIP soared in the polls - in 2013 - and then the 2014 euro elections that he put it in the 2015 manifesto
-
You're right, undoubtedly the rise of UKIP forced DC to offer an IN/OUT EU Referendum. That was the main factor. I'm just a little pedantic about dates and timelines! Have a good night

Farage had £8.5m shoved in his direction and he's still not an MP. BTW where did that money come from? You wouldn't want to be supporting a traitor would you!
-
Adolf Hitler was probably the most influential politician in Germany, if not Europe, in the 20th century. Doesn't make it good
@JuliaHB1 -
Fred West was an influential DIY-er that many people have heard of. Doesn't mean anyone should copy him.
-
For DIY Josef Fritzl was quite good but obviousky not so much the other stuff

So influential he couldn’t get elected to Parliament! He just knew which buttons to press , whilst being handsomely paid by the very organisation he was being so critical of. If MEPs swore allegiance toEU he’d have been screwed.
-
Influential enough to stop Blair from adopting the Euro, forced "call me Dave" to call for a referendum, which was subsequently won. So yeah, very influential. Not everything can be measured by FPTP Elections to be MP. Like him or loath him, you definitely can't ignore him.
-
Problem is the way he’s been allowed to do it, he bears no responsibly for the chaos he has caused. Remember the misleading anti immigration poster just before the referendum?
-
remember 500,000 job losses, emergency Budget, immediate recession, stated just before the referendum, problem is how remain camp have never been able to accept the result of the biggest vote in UK modern history.
-
It was undemocratic. Either we want a democracy or we don’t.

Influential in a negative way. As for bitchy tweets I think you’ve got that one pretty much mastered
